Questions to Ask Before You Buy A Pool

To help with your swimming pool shopping experience, we have put together a list of important questions you need to ask before making your purchase decision. You should feel both confident and comfortable with the company you will be working with and should expect them to be there for you both during and AFTER the sale!

* Are you a licensed and insured contractor?
* Are all warranties provided in writing?
* Do you have a completed pool or a pool currently under construction in my area that I can look at?
* Have all of my expenses for the project been explained to me from A to Z?
* Are all of the extras and options been made available to me with their costs written down?
* Are the freight/shipping cost for my fiberglass pool included in the price?
* Do you contact Ms Utility prior to beginning the excavation?
* If a crane is needed for placement of my pool, is this expense included in the price?
* Will you provide an electrician and obtain all final inspections? - Is this expense included in the price?
* Before my concrete or pavers are installed, will you have the electrical bonding and inspection done? - Is this expense included in the price?
* Will you supply the water to fill the pool upon completion? - Is this expense included in the price?
* Do you use and sub-contractors during the building phase?
* How long do you expect the entire project to take and when will I be able to actually swim in the pool?
* Will my current landscape work with the pool plans?
* Will you apply for and retrieve all permits?

* Will you obtain the lines and grades of our property? (per County requirements) - Is this expense included in the price?



* What happens if you hit rock or water while digging the pool?
* Will I have a main contact person available to answer any of my questions?
* Do you supply a temporary fence until my permanent fence is installed?
* Is my concrete or paver perimeter patio included in the price?
* Will you remove the extra dirt after the excavation? - Is this expense included in the price?
* Will you grade my yard around the pool with the extra dirt? - Is this expense included in the price?
* Who is responsible for any damage that may occur to my driveway, sidewalk or street side curbs?
* Who is responsible for any damage that may occur to my neighbors' yard?
* Do you remove the heavy equipment tire tracks from my lawn?
* Will I receive personal instruction on how to operate the filter system, vacuuming and applying the chemicals to the pool?
* Will I get all necessary vacuuming equipment; start up chemicals and water testing supplies with the pool package?
* Does your store offer Free water analysis?
* Does your store offer a Free Pool School class to teach me how to open the pool in the Spring and close it down in the Fall?
* How much will my utility bill increase from running the pool?
* Does a winter or safety cover come with the pool package?
* Do you have a professional Service Department that will come out to repair any problems in a timely manor? - Is there an additional fee for the service?
